Halloween Fun!

So as most of you know, I love holidays and crafts and one day strive to be a professional crafter (like Martha Stewart). I have been blessed with a wonderful school and lots of extra free time, so I have been able to share my love for holidays and crafts with my students and friends. In this post I will tell you about how my Halloween went. It was a "Spooktacular" time!

Halloween in Korea does not exist. My students know that kids get candy on Halloween but they do not truly understand the feeling on how it is as a child waking up on Halloween day knowing that in a few short hours they get to dress up and stay up late to trick or treat around the town when it is dark outside. As a kid this is very exciting. But sadly, my kids do not get to experience the joys of dressing up for no reason and get a ton of candy from strangers (haha yeah, its a weird holiday but I love it). So I have been the past few years trying to show my students a little bit of what American Halloween is. In my previous post, I also talked about Halloween in my classroom and the preparation for it. I will not repeat that but I will talk about the actual week of Halloween.

My students every week have been counting down to Halloween. So when it was finally Halloween week the students knew. I tried to trick them and say that Halloween was Thursday so if they did not have class Thursday no Halloween. They were surprisingly okay with that. So in the beginning we worked on a few things that needed to get done and then half way through class I put on my Spider web headband and was all set to celebrate Halloween with my students. My students were so funny, they all were so surprised by the headband and all wanted to touch it and wear it. It was cute. I talked about the basic concept of Halloween and watched a Halloween music video. They were so surprised to see all the children dressed in different costumes and they would all scream in amazement. I luckily had a box of animal hats in my classroom so I made them choose a costume and go out of the classroom and knock on the door and say "trick-or-treat". I then gave each student a spider lollipop and they went on their way sining the Halloween song that we watched . It was so cute. To see their reactions and smiles is exactly the reason why I do what I do!

My Halloween fun did not just stop there. I hosted a Halloween party at my house for my foreigner friends on Halloween night. It was so fun planning, creating, decorating, and putting on this Halloween Party. It gives me an assurance that this is what I want to pursue when I get done with teaching in Korea > Party Planner.

A lot of prep went into this party but the outcome was exactly what I was hoping for and it was such a fun night with my friends. Here is what my party looked like:

Drink Table: Pick Your Poison
Witches Brew Anyone?

Food Table: Take One If You Dare...

Yummy Halloween Menu Included:
       Hershey Kisses Cookies
       Banana Pudding Dirt Cake
       Gummy Worm Jello

It's not a party without a photo booth!

I am so thankful to all of my friends who came and made the party an extraordinary time. It was a blast and I cannot wait to host more parties in the future!

Photo Booth Fun!
Also a very special thanks to my Bestie for helping me out, making this Halloween possible and for always dressing up with me and being cute.

I would say we make a pretty cute Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck! Best Friends Forever!

I hope you all had a Happy Halloween! Look out for more awesome parties from me in the future. Next one up is Christmas!!!
