South Korea Bucket List (4 months to go)

I have 4 more months (17 weeks) left in Korea!! I know, I will finally be coming home. I can’t believe it either. Mandy and I were discussing about this earlier and we were saying that the time seemed to go by so slow the first six months she was here but once she hit the six month mark (my year and a half mark) it started to fly by. It also helps that it is also spring time and our schedules started to fill up with fun trips to keep us busy. So I have 4 more months left in Korea and need to enjoy it while it lasts.
Mandy and I made a South Korea bucket list a while a back that we are trying to check off before we leave. Here is our list so far:
  •   Go to a jimjilbang
A jimjilbang is a public bath house. It has hot tubs, showers, and temperature rooms. It is a big part of their culture. I have done this before and yes it was weird but I just tried to forget that I was not clothed and tried to bring that much attention to me by not being weirded out by it.
  •   Go to a pet café
Korea has cafes where you can go play with cats and dogs. I believe this is popular because many people don’t have pets of their own because most people live in apartments.
  •  Have a Bestie photo shoot wearing Hanboks
Hanboks are Korean traditional clothing. They will typically wear them during holidays and weddings.
  •   Go to a 4-D movie
> Check! We went to see “Frozen” in the 4_d movie theater. If you have ever been to the Disneyland ride “Honey I shrunk the audience” then you know what a 4-D theater is like. Your seat moves with the movie and you get sprayed by water and air throughout. So much fun!

  •  Bangs! (Dvd, PC, Board Game, Wii, Norae)
Bang means room in Korean. Korea loves there bangs and I do to. They are so convenient to have.
> We have been to the Norae bang, Dvd bang, and Wii bang. We still need to go to the PC and Board game bang.
At the Wii Bang

At the Dvd Bang
At a Norae Bang (Karaoke)

  •   Conquer a mountain
  • Busan
Busan is one of my places in Korea. It is a big costal city and has a lot to offer. Mandy still has never been but we are planning on going for her birthday.
  •   Firefly Festival
  •   Cherry Blossom Festival
We went to the Cherry Blossom Festival last month. I didn’t get to go to it last year so it was something new for both of us. This festival is a very popular festival so it was really busy but it was still worth it. It was so beautiful and we got some fun pictures.

  • Sea Parting Festival
I went to this last year and it was one of my favorite festivals in Korea. This year because of the stormy weather it didn’t actually part like it was supposed to, but it was still  fun and an adventure.

  •   Family Land (small amusement park)
I would love to go to Everland (a larger amusement park) in Seoul but I don’t think it will be able to fit into our busy schedules so I can settle with the smaller one in Gwangju.
That is what we have so far. We still have a few months, so we have time to add on to it.  The weeks are flying by and soon I am going to back in America. I am trying to remember to enjoy every little thing that I am blessed with right now because soon I am going to have to say goodbye. So this is what I will be doing. Enjoying life and treasuring every moment while I have it.

  1. Hi Justine!!
I still enjoy reading your blog! This post made me go back/think about my time in Korea and my own bucket lists (I made one every year). Korea was hard especially the first year. You were so lucky to have Mandy with you.
